MIRACLE KIDS PROFILE: Jeevan Basra From Surrey

Anxious but excited, Sarb and Sanddip Basra, listened for the first cry of their newborn girl, Jeevan. When the cry never fully developed, they realized what the medical staff at Surrey Memorial had already figured out. Blue in colour, little Jeevan Basra was struggling for oxygen.

Time stood still for the anxious new parents, as it became clear their fragile newborn needed more specialized treatment. A mere 48 hours old, Jeevan was transported to BC Children’s Hospital where she was quickly diagnosed with pulmonary valvular stenosis, a congenital heart condition. Continue Reading…
